The Eclipse 500 and 550 are very light jets originally developed and built by Eclipse Aerospace and later ONE Aviation in the USA.
Introduced in 1997, the Eclipse 500 became the world’s very first aircraft in the very light jet (VLJ) category of private aircraft. The Eclipse 500 first flew in August 2002 with deliveries of the landmark aircraft commencing in January 2007. Since then, the Eclipse 500 has seen more than 250 deliveries globally.
In 2011, Eclipse Aerospace announced the development of its new-build Eclipse 550. The new model featured improved avionics and an enhanced vision system (EVS), which utilises an image sensor to display a clearer image of the aircraft’s surroundings to its flight crew.
